MatchPoints 2026 invites you into an arena where the major pressures on Europe today become tangible and understandable. With its central theme, “Resilience in a Challenged Europe,” the conference explores how European societies can remain stable and forward‑looking amid geopolitical uncertainty, shifting energy landscapes, digital threats, and environmental crises.
Across multiple tracks and parallel sessions, the conference zooms in on pressing domain‑specific issues such as energy independence, sustainable food systems, cybersecurity, water management, and biodiversity. These sessions unpack how these areas are under pressure and increasingly interconnected, offering an opportunity to explore the latest knowledge and dilemmas with leading researchers and practitioners.
MatchPoints thrives on its mix of participants: academics, policymakers, business leaders, journalists, public servants, investors, and engaged citizens. This blend creates an environment where complex problems are examined from multiple angles and where new partnerships and insights can take form. We welcome everyone with a professional interest in the resilience agenda and have a specified focus on dialogue, networking and engagement.
MatchPoints 2026 offers more than recognition of the challenges ahead — it provides a constructive space for thinking forward. Through keynote speeches, panel debates, and interactive sessions, the programme encourages exploration of how Europe can foster resilience in a sustainable, democratic, and fair way.
Since 2007, MatchPoints has been the annual flagship conference of Aarhus University, bringing together researchers, journalists, politicians, business leaders and engaged citizens to discuss the most pressing issues of the day. The purpose of MatchPoints is to create dialogue between Aarhus University and the world around it concerning subjects of wider societal interest. For this reason, MatchPoints is always open to the public. The speakers at MatchPoints conferences rank among the most highly esteemed national and international figures in the subjects being discussed, and the conferences are usually interdisciplinary and held in English.
