Resilience in a
Challenged
Europe

MatchPoints Conference
6-7 May 2026
Aarhus University

Resilience is becoming an increasingly pivotal concept in discussions about the future of Europe. But how can we define resilience? And how can it help us understand and tackle the challenges facing Europe today?

Join us at MatchPoints 2026 as we explore resilience as a unifying concept for addressing specific challenges in key European policy domains, including geopolitics, food systems, water management, energy independence, cybersecurity and biodiversity. We’ll ask whether and how these challenges – and the solutions to them – are interconnected, and how we can foster resilient societies in a way that is sustainable, democratic and fair. Against this background, we’ll also broaden our scope to examine the future of globalisation. Is it losing momentum or simply changing shape? And what does this mean for citizens of European societies?

MatchPoints 2026 will bring together renowned experts, researchers, policymakers, business representatives, public servants, practitioners, investors, journalists and members of the public to explore resilience from an interdisciplinary perspective and to unite research, policy and practice. Through keynote speeches, panel discussions, workshops and networking activities, the conference will foster active dialogue around resilience and explore how we can move from concept to action. Join us as we generate new perspectives and practical solutions that enhance our collective ability to create positive change and opportunities, even in uncertain times.

MatchPoints 2026 consists of a main conference (in English) on 7 May, as well as three warm-up events, each approaching resilience from a different perspective. The warm-up events will be held in Danish. MatchPoints is open to all interested participants. Click the menu to learn more.
