What's in it for me?

MatchPoints 2023 is for everyone with an interest in global health. The conference will be held in English and will focus on academic topics. It will explore global health challenges and solutions within these four themes:

  • Mental health conditions and chronic disease
  • Pandemics
  • Sustainability and health
  • Global health inequality

Each of the four themes contains a keynote presentation and four workshops on different sub-themes.

At the 2023 MatchPoints conference you can

  • meet internationally acclaimed global health scientists and early-career researchers from the medical sciences as well as researchers from the humanities, political science, and the technical and natural sciences,
  • engage with professionals from academic institutions, NGOs and other global health interest groups
  • participate in engaging debates with your colleagues about global health challenges and solutions,
  • check out a poster presentation,
  • discuss and comment on the Aarhus Declaration on Global Health
  • find inspiration for your daily professional life,
  • participate in a "Meet the Professor" lunch (available to early-career researchers, PhD students and postdocs),
  • participate in engaging activities and network at two highly entertaining evening events

Comment on the Aarhus Declaration on Global Health
Join us at the MatchPoints conference as we address some of the most pressing challenges facing our global society. Healthcare inequality, limited access to vaccines and treatments, climate change, humanitarian crises, declining mental health, and the prevalence of diseases such as diabetes and heart disease, all contribute to an unsustainable pressure on our global healthcare systems.

At MatchPoints 2023, we will present “The Aarhus Declaration on Global Health,” a poignant reminder to researchers and decision-makers of what needs to be accomplished to address the challenges and ensure equal access to healthcare for all. A draft of the declaration will be presented at the conference for all participants to discuss and provide feedback on. The draft and your comments will be discussed during the closing session of the conference. A final version of the declaration will be sent to all participants and be available online later in May.

The MatchPoints conference series
Since 2007, MatchPoints has been the annual flagship conference of Aarhus University, bringing together researchers, journalists, politicians, business leaders and engaged citizens to discuss the most pressing issues of the day. The purpose of MatchPoints is to create dialogue between Aarhus University and the world around it concerning subjects of wider societal interest. For this reason, MatchPoints is always open to the public. The speakers at MatchPoints conferences rank among the most highly esteemed national and international figures in the subjects being discussed, and the conferences are usually interdisciplinary.
